Net sales of $874.3 million beat the API Ninjas estimate of $773.7 million by 13.0%, and diluted EPS of $1.24 beat the $1.04 estimate by 19.2%.
Management expects Q4 net sales down 3% or 4% sequentially, in line with history, and still expects to outperform the U.S. IT market by 200 basis points this year; endpoint demand is expected down slightly in 2027 from 2026.
The quarter was operating leverage, not margin: gross margin fell 110 basis points to 18.5%, but SG&A fell 150 basis points to 13.8% of net sales, lifting operating income 35.4% to $41 million and net income 27.2% to $31.5 million.
Enterprise Solutions net sales rose 27.4% to a record $407.5 million and the segment closed the quarter with a record backlog, while Public Sector Solutions grew only 4.6% to $138.6 million as federal rebuilt and state, local and education carried the segment.
The one thing that matters: the growth is price, not units, and the device cycle behind it is nearly spent, which leaves Enterprise backlog rather than endpoints carrying 2027.

Management commentary
Management had told investors to expect Q3 below Q2; July and August came in as expected and September, particularly in Enterprise Solutions, was stronger than planned, with software holding up better than feared.
About half the gross margin decline was the lower mix of netted-down software, the rest customer and product mix, as heavy endpoint-device volume to large customers carries a lower margin.
On pricing, notebook and laptop revenue was up over 30% while unit count fell about 5%, which management offered as the read on the pricing environment.
Q4 is expected to track history at down 3% or 4% sequentially with SG&A following, and there is no budget flush: "we are not hearing any specific budget flush", with some budget crowding as customers choose where to place IT dollars.
For 2027, the majority of the endpoint device upgrade cycle is behind the company, but demand for on-prem and agentic servers, networking, security and software is expected to stay solid.
Quality of earnings
The earnings growth is operational and came against two headwinds, not with help from them. Operating income rose 35.4% to $41 million on a 110 basis point lower gross margin, while interest income fell to $2.5 million from $3.7 million and the effective tax rate rose to 27.6% from 27.1%.
Cash has not followed the earnings. Operating activities used $39.8 million in the first nine months, with accounts receivable up $144.8 million and inventory up $83 million against $74.5 million more payables, so record net sales are sitting in working capital rather than cash.
Half the margin erosion is presentation rather than economics. Management attributes about 50% of the 110 basis point gross margin decline to a lower mix of netted-down software, with the rest from heavy endpoint-device volume to large customers.
Gotchas & watch items
The growth is priced, not shipped: notebook and laptop revenue rose over 30% while unit count fell about 5%, with some customers pulling purchases forward ahead of further price increases.
Underlying earnings power is better than the margin line suggests: gross profit grew 16.7% to a record $161.9 million and trailing 12-month adjusted EBITDA reached a record $155.2 million from $122.7 million, a 26% increase, while gross margin fell.
Liquidity is thinner than the quarter looks: cash equivalents and short-term investments ended at $343.3 million after $144.8 million more receivables and $83 million more inventory, and interest income has already fallen to $2.5 million from $3.7 million on lower balances.
Public Sector Solutions grew 4.6% to $138.6 million with gross margin down 30 basis points to 16.9%, on lower-margin endpoint devices; federal only returned to growth this quarter.
