Net sales of $65.6 million missed the $68.5 million estimate by 4.2%, while GAAP diluted EPS of $0.48 beat the $0.34 expected by 41.2%.
No financial guidance was given; the only numeric target reiterated was a longer-term inventory turn goal of 3 times.
Margin and cash carried the quarter against a 3% sales decline: gross margin up 123 basis points to 29.4%, EBITDA up $1.4 million to $10 million, and operating cash flow of $14.9 million against $1 million used a year earlier.
Archery, helped by the September 2025 Gold Tip acquisition, plus safety and outdoor games offset declines in basketball, indoor games and table tennis, with an exit from lower-margin lines also reducing sales.
The one thing that matters: the earnings beat on a sales miss is mix and cost structure, not demand - and $1.6 million of the $10 million of EBITDA is a tariff recovery, so the underlying margin step-up is smaller than the headline.

Management commentary
Griffin said the more efficient operating model produced earnings and cash flow growth despite deteriorating consumer sentiment and a difficult year-over-year comparison.
On the favourable mix, Griffin pointed to more dealer business with fewer customer programs and more direct-to-consumer sales, which carry higher margin, rather than consumers trading up within categories.
Capital allocation keeps roughly a turn of EBITDA in cash, with an active acquisition pipeline, more capital expenditure in the fourth quarter and into next year, plus the dividend and opportunistic buybacks.
Griffin confirmed the tariff refund affected free cash flow in the quarter and that the reported cash balance already includes it.
Management expects investment in innovation to accelerate new product introductions into 2027, citing new Onix paddles, the STIGA Onyx18 table and the American Heritage Ann Arbor billiards table.
Quality of earnings
A sixth of EBITDA is a refund. EBITDA of $10 million includes $1.6 million of recovery for previously paid tariffs; against $8.6 million a year ago, the $1.4 million increase is smaller than that single item.
Cash conversion is the genuine strength. Operating cash flow of $14.9 million ran above $6.7 million of net income, against $1 million of cash used a year earlier, and inventory finished $2.9 million below prior year despite the Gold Tip, AllCornhole and ASL Solutions acquisitions.
The margin gain is mix and absorption rather than price. Gross margin rose 123 basis points to 29.4% on more dealer and direct-to-consumer business and higher fixed-cost absorption, while SG&A rose just $0.4 million to $11.6 million.
Gotchas & watch items
The sales decline is partly self-inflicted and partly a comparison artefact: an exit from certain lower-margin product lines, against a prior-year quarter that carried shipments pushed out of the second quarter by tariff-related volatility.
The balance sheet flipped to net cash: $24.5 million of cash against $13.1 million of debt, all classified current, after repaying $1.8 million and adding $8.1 million of cash in the quarter.
Heavier holiday promotion is a choice, not a clearance: management called current inventory levels comfortable and framed the added promotions as pulling consumers earlier into the buying cycle.
Inventory fell year over year even as three acquired businesses were added to it, which is the asset-utilisation claim doing real work rather than the 3-times turn target.
