No revenue or earnings to compare: receipts from customers were nil, so the September quarter is judged on resource, study and funding progress.
The preliminary economic assessment is the substance of the quarter: A$3.0B after-tax NPV7% and a 39% IRR on the 4.6Mtpa case over a 22.3-year life, against A$2.2B and 41% on the 1.8Mtpa base case over 32.3 years.
Conversion, not discovery, drove the resource upgrade: Ming M&I rose 21% to 57.3Mt at 2.4% CuEq on 164 new holes for 69,539m of infill drilling, while Inferred fell 5.8Mt as material moved into the higher-confidence categories.
Funding is settled for the study phase: the ~A$180M raising plus A$4,975,000 from the share purchase plan left A$337.1 million of cash at 30 September against A$21.7 million of quarterly outgoings, or 15.5 quarters of funding.
The one thing that matters: the A$516 million of initial capital the base case needs sits against A$337.1 million of cash, so the raising funds studies and early works rather than construction. The financing question is deferred to the mid-2027 investment decision, not answered by this quarter.

Quality of earnings
The reported operating outflow understates what the quarter actually spent. Net operating outflow was A$2.6 million only because A$19.1 million of underground development, drilling and study expenditure sat in investing activities; total relevant outgoings were A$21.7 million.
Interest income is carrying the operating line. A$2.4 million of interest receipts offset A$3.3 million of staff and corporate costs and A$0.8 million of care-and-maintenance costs, which is why a pre-production asset shows a near-break-even operating result.
Gotchas & watch items
Cash is narrower than the headline: the ~A$349.7 million of cash and liquid investments exceeds the A$337.1 million cash balance, and the reclamation term deposits backing A$1,279,000 and A$3,282,000 of Canadian guarantees sit outside cash altogether.
The study covers less of the asset than the project name implies: it rests solely on the Ming Mine resource, excluding Little Deer's 2.9Mt of M&I and the Rambler, East Mine, Main Mine, Tilt Cove and Nugget Pond targets, none yet drill-tested by the company.
The upscale case costs more than the headline capital figure: the 4.6Mtpa scenario carries A$566 million of initial capital plus A$484 million of expansion capital and A$974 million of life-of-mine sustaining capital, against A$516 million initial for the base case.
Spot prices do much of the work in the marketed returns: at spot metal prices the 4.6Mtpa NPV7% is A$5.0B against A$3.0B at study prices, and the IRR 54% against 39%.
