Net revenues of $9.967 billion were a slight miss against the $9.983 billion consensus (0.2% short), while GAAP diluted EPS of $1.02 beat the $0.708 consensus; both verdicts are carried from the preliminary.
Guidance held: management is maintaining the 2026 top-line and EPS outlook and reiterated strong EPS growth in 2027, but gave no 2027 sales figure, calling it premature.
Volume is back in the developed markets: Europe volume/mix grew 1.6 percentage points despite a 1% drag from hot weather, while price in Europe fell as selective chocolate price cuts lap last year's increases.
Emerging markets keep extending distribution: about 130,000 outlets added in India year to date, Brazil above 1 million stores, and Latin America non-chocolate volume/mix ex-Argentina at about 4% to 5%.
The one thing that matters: the earnings upside is coming from gross profit on volume, productivity and cheaper cacao, and management is spending it on advertising rather than raising the 2026 EPS outlook; the 2027 EPS call rests on volume holding while dairy, oil, packaging and freight inflate.

Management commentary
CEO Dirk Van de Put described emerging-market consumers as resilient, Europe stable but cautious, and North America soft with growth concentrated in higher-income households.
CFO Amit Banati said upside will be reinvested in the business, and expects continued volume/mix growth plus strong gross profit and operating income dollar growth in Q4.
COO Luca Zaramella said North America did not cut prices but sharpened promotion depth and frequency, and that 2027 pricing will be selective and mostly through price-pack architecture.
Mondelez agreed to acquire a majority stake in Undercover Snacks, expected to close by early 2027; management said bolt-ons of up to about $1 billion in sales remain the M&A focus.
On emerging-market runway, Zaramella said "we still have 25% numeric distribution to go" in places like China, India and Brazil.
Quality of earnings
Part of the gross profit beat is cost timing. Against a $0.708 consensus for GAAP diluted EPS of $1.02, the CFO credited volume leverage, productivity and the timing of low cacao costs; the call gives no figure for the cacao benefit, and management expects it to continue into Q4.
Gotchas & watch items
Europe price is still going backwards: management confirmed negative price, mainly chocolate, will continue for the next couple of quarters as last year's increases lap.
The cocoa tailwind has a known end point: the 2026-27 crop is projected at a deficit of around 190,000 tons, though management expects this year's roughly 500,000-ton surplus to absorb it.
Underlying Latin America is healthier than the headline: excluding Argentina, non-chocolate volume/mix ran about 4% to 5% last quarter, with Brazil chocolate the remaining drag.
New cost pressure is building: management cited inflation in dairy, oil, packaging and freight heading into 2027, to be offset by productivity savings.
